YouTube content creators will soon be able to earn money directly from viewers with the release of new money-making ways.
Following features were announced this week at VidCon which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Super Stickers
The first feature is Super Stickers.
This feature will allow viewers to send animated stickers for a fee.
Creators get revenue from what YouTube makes after each purchase of a super message or sticker. YouTube says some creators are earning more than $400 per minute.
Channel Membership Tiers
YouTube is expanding another feature with the addition of membership tiers.
Earlier, viewers were to pay a flat monthly fee of $4.99 to have access to exclusive content.
Now, creators are able to introduce tier-based pricing, enabling them to proffer more content for a greater monthly fee.
Creators are allowed to set up to five diverse price points for channel memberships, with changing perks at each level.
Rolling of these features put YouTube in competition with Patreon, where YouTubers earn money from dedicated fans.
More Merch Partners
Creators now have more opportunities to sell merchandise with the addition of five new partners.
YouTube provides more opportunities for creators to sell merchandise as it has added five new partners, Crowdmade, DFTBA, Fanjoy, Represent, and Rooster Teeth.
Eligible creators who distribute merchandise via one of these organizations can now take benefit of YouTube’s ‘merch shelf’ feature.
