It was not even a week after Twitter started rolling out Facebook-like profile to its users that the social networking giant has rolled out another feature ‘real-time notifications’ on its web interface to make the service more interactive.
Twitter announced this update via a blog post in which Twitter executive Michael Ducker informed that users will receive notifications if someone has replied, favourited or retweeted one of their tweets. Besides, users will now be able to receive notifications for direct messages and new followers as well. They will also be able to reply, favourite, retweet, and follow right from the notification window as the notification have been made more interactive and actionable.
Moreover, users can customize and choose the types of notifications they wish to be alerted of through the settings on Twitter.com.

The new feature will be rolled out to all users over the coming week. The feature will provide a more interactive experience to the users just like Twitter’s mobile apps offers via push notifications.
