It was 15 September 1959 when television in India was introduced in Delhi. The programs were broadcasted twice a week for an hour a day on such topics as community health, citizens’ duties and rights, and traffic and road sense. And then on things got bigger and better and it is now that TV has kind of become an integral part of our lives.
But even TV has a few limitations. You can’t just watch a program any time and every time. You need to schedule your daily routine accordingly if you really don’t want to miss a program on TV. How YouTube is killing TV
Just now I talked about the flexibility YouTube offers when it comes to watching a program as you have the leverage to watch it anytime as long as you have internet connectivity and a compatible device. So, now with you have the control that used to be with television earlier. Now, TV doesn’t control you but you control your online TV or say YouTube. So, in a way YouTube is where your audience are.
It is global
They are in 71 million homes is something cable network brag about but how about YouTube, which is in every home I mean all those that have the internet connectivity and as of now we have 2,925,249,355 internet users globally.
TV means reach YouTube means engagement
TV is one-way. It simply telecasts the program while YouTube talks back by allowing the user to take the command and watch what they want.

Afterword
Although it might take a few more years but YouTube is for sure going to roll over the television networks. The way YouTube is becoming popular among people a day will come when your offspring will be surprised to know you still watched TV when there were only a certain number of channels on television and would ask you why people didn’t just start their own channels on YouTube and how did you manage your busy schedule and television together.
The Bottom line
“TV entertains you but YouTube entertains you when you want.”
