‘Google Hire’ is being launched by the world’s largest technology giant Google. It seems to be gearing up to launch a new job application website which will track and manage applications to rival services like LinkedIn and Jobvite.

The website is now up and can be accessed via URL.

The company has already launched a sign-in page for the new tool. And, the page suggests that employers and job seekers can sign up for the service.

A Google spokesperson said, “Google Hire is products under development that will help G Suite customers manage their hiring process more effectively. The product will allow employers to collect candidate applications online.”

It will function just as a recruitment tool, which allows employers to manage job applications. Employers will be able to place ads for job listings, which job seekers will then be able to apply for.

Here is a page of job listings, which was discovered among test folders inside the Google Hire portal. When a particular job posting is clicked, a new page appears which describes the JD, skills required, and a quick form for the applicant to submit.

The fact that the service requires individuals to sign in using their Google account has led to concerns that recruiters will be able to see a candidate’s complete search history.

A Google spokesperson replied with the following details:

“Google does not share private information such as search or viewing history. Only information that a candidate voluntarily provides would be passed to a prospective employer as part of their online application — for example, first name, last name, email address, resume, cover letter, etc. Private information will not be shared.”

However, Google is quite a late player into this space. Worldwide, and even in India, job recruiting platforms is a very crowded space. With LinkedIn being the biggest player, there are others Greenhouse, Jobvite worldwide. In India, this space is dominated by Naukri, Indeed, Monster and Glassdoor.
