A recent report by Techcrunch revealed that Facebook is testing a new app called ‘Moments’ that will allow users to share images and other items with close family and friends in an easy and more secure way.
The main idea behind creating this new app is to make it easier for users to share content that they’d generally be uncomfortable about posting on Facebook and make it simple to share with your family and friends.
As of now, the Facebook employees are ‘dogfooding’ the app. As per the report, the app will have a framework of tiles representing each of the users close contacts, and to share with someone, users will simply need to tap on their tile.
However, it is still not confirmed as to when the app will be launched. When asked to comment on the same, Facebook replied with its standard “We do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Moreover, it is yet not clear whether the app would be integrated with Facebook groups or will be standalone. It is not for the first time Facebook is planning to develop a standalone app, prior to this , the social networking giant has also created standalone specialized apps like Paper, which is a social news reader iPhone app with a unique user interface, and Slingshot for sending ephemeral messages.
