1) LinkedIn Introduces Video Captions, Articles Quotes and Translations
LinkedIn making it convenient for its users to find other professionals with same interests introduced new features- Video Captions, Share Articles Quotes, See Translations and more.
Here are the details-
#Add video captions to give more context
There are often times when you aren’t able to watch a video with the sound on so for these moments, you now have the option to add closed captioning to your videos when posting from desktop. Not only does this give people a better viewing experience when the sound is off, it also makes your videos accessible to everyone.
How to add captions?
- Click the video icon in the share box on desktop to select the video you want to share.
- Once the preview shows up, click the edit icon on the top right to see the video settings and then click “select file” to attach the associated SRT (SubRip Subtitle) file. You’re ready to post from there!
#Share quotes from articles to spark conversations
To help you start conversations on points you find particularly interesting, you can now easily highlight a quote from a LinkedIn article on mobile and share it directly with your network in the feed.
#See translations of posts to stay in touch with your global connections
Users who want to stay in the loop on what your connections are doing and talking about can use this feature. LinkedIn has added a “See translation” button on posts that are in a different language than a user may be speaking. This is rolling out now across desktop and mobile.
#Save posts as drafts to share when you’re ready
Users can now save a draft of their posts on mobile and come back to it later. Just tap on the ‘X ‘at the top left of your post to see the option to save.
#Easily access the content you’ve created
We’ve heard from all of you that you want a quick and easy way to access all of the posts you’ve shared, articles you’ve written, or videos you’ve recorded. To help address the need of quickly accessing the articles, videos, posts, etc. LinkedIn has added a shortcut on desktop; simply click on the “Me” tab to get to the content you’ve shared on LinkedIn.
2) LinkedIn Rolls Out Several New Updates to LinkedIn Messaging
To help make it easier for users to communicate the way they want, when they want, LinkedIn has made some updates to messaging to make users’ exchanges more useful and enjoyable:
#Stretch your compose box to write longer messages
Users can now move out of the chat-like interface and expand the message compose box across platforms for those times when they just need a little more space to compose longer, thoughtful and more formal messages. This is available now on mobile, and coming in the next few weeks to desktop.
Share attachments on-the-go- LinkedIn has added the ability to send attachments from mobiles in the LinkedIn app. When contacted by a recruiter and need to send your resume right away- just tap the attachment icon and select from the approved file types including PDF, DOC, XLS, and PPT to upload.

3) In Testing- Instagram might allow allows public accounts to remove followers
As per the reports Instagram is widely testing the ability to manually remove followers from public profiles. However, users with private Instagram accounts were already using the feature to remove followers and limit access to their content. This new experimental feature extends the same level of direct control to a few selected public accounts on Android devices.
4) Instagram Tests Reaction Emojis for Stories
Instagram seems to be testing a new Facebook reaction-style emoji response for Instagram Stories. The news was shared by Matt Navarra.
5) Instagram Upgrades Two-Factor Authentication
Instagram has confirmed that it’s building a non-SMS two-factor authentication system that works with security apps like Google Authenticator or Duo. They generate a special code that you need to log in that can’t be generated on a different phone in case your number is ported to a hacker’s SIM card. It is working on the non-SMS 2FA feature, saying, “We’re continuing to improve the security of Instagram accounts, including strengthening 2-factor authentication.”
6) Facebook Adds New Creative Tools for Ads Manager App
Facebook introduced a new suite of creative tools for the Ads Manager app that make it easier to build compelling ad content right from your mobile device.
These new creative tools allow you to create and edit ad images directly from the Ads Manager app, saving time and effort. The creative tools include:
- Text Overlay & Text Policy Checker: The text overlay feature allows you to incorporate text within your ad. You can select different fonts and adjust the text’s positioning and opacity. The text policy checker will notify you when the amount of text in your ad satisfies or exceeds Facebook’s guidelines.
- Image Cropper: The image cropping feature allows you to crop images to fit in your ads and Page posts.
- Templates: The templates feature offers fully customizable ad templates comprised of stickers, text and shapes to make ad creation more efficient.
- Shapes, Stickers & Logos: The shapes, stickers and logos feature enables you to add your brand’s logo, stickers and shapes to customize your ad and showcase important information about your business.
- Color Filters: The color filters will allow you to adjust the look of your ad by adding color filters.
7) Facebook Tests Branded Content Labels on Posts
Facebook appears to be testing a new About This Partnership tag for sponsored posts that details the relationship among brands and the publishers who post ads for them. This possible news was shared by Matt Navarra.
8) Facebook Allows to Sync Instagram Contacts to Messenger
Facebook wants to expand your Messenger contact list with a little help from Instagram. The company has launched a feature in Messenger that pulls in your contacts from Instagram, if you opt to connect your account. The option appears in Messenger’s “People” tab, alongside the existing option to sync your phone’s contacts with Messenger.
The update was first spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, who posted a screenshot to Twitter.
9) YouTube Features Searchable Hashtags Above Video Titles
YouTube has started displaying the first three hashtags within a video’s description above the title and at the bottom of the video. Android Police reports that the hashtags are clickable and will bring up a results page with other videos tagged with the same hashtag. The website will even display the top three hashtags at the bottom of the video and above its title. Hashtags have been spotted on both the web and on mobile. Engadget reports this new feature “might still be in the midst of rolling out or available only in the US and other select locations” on Android devices but doesn’t appear to be available on iOS.
10) Snapchat Launches News Partnership Initiative
Snapchat partnered with four news-focused discovery platforms – NewsWhip, Storyful, SAM Desk, and TagBoard to give journalists access to better tools that will help them uncover Snap pictures and videos during breaking news stories.
